Thousands Jump From Zadar’s Waterfront In 7th Millenium Jump As Organisers Snub Guinness Book Of Records

In scorching heat on Zadar’s waterfront on Saturday in central Dalmatia, the 7th Millenium Jump took place, with close to 3,000 locals and tourists taking part.

The event, which is growing in stature each year, saw the participants, all in yellow t-shirts, form 12 large stars before they simultaneously jumped into the sea forming a domino effect. The jump is believed to be the largest of its kind in the world, but organisers this year refused Guinness Book of Records approach to have the Zadar Millenium Jump recorded.

“In 2007 when we held the first Millenium Jump we sent Guinness Book of Records an application but they denied us. Again we applied and again got refused,” said the man behind the idea Neno Stojakovic, before adding that Guinness Book of Records changed their mind and suddenly the jump was of interest but the Zadrani were not anymore.

“If we are in the books someone else will just go and beat the record. We do not need to be in the Guinness Book of Records. The Millenium Jump will survive and will be Zadar’s own project,” said Stojanovic.
