Optimism as Croatia records positive trend in bookings

ZAGREB, 7 March (Hina) – Croatia is recording a positive trend in booking in Germany for both the high season and the pre- and post-season, and overall we can be optimistic for this year with regard to that market, according to HTZ director Kristjan Staničić, who attended the ITB Berlin convention.
ITB Berlin is the world’s largest travel trade show. About 5,500 exhibitors from all segments of the tourism and travel industry from about 170 countries, including Croatia, are participating in it.
All the exhibitors from Croatia are, they said, satisfied with the cooperation with German and other partners from around the world, and due to the current good booking in Germany and announcements for the rest of the year, everyone more or less expects better results in tourism than last year.
Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac said that analyses show that “German tourists are returning in greater numbers and that bookings started much earlier this year”, and that Croatia ranks high in terms of demand there, being fourth among foreign destinations.
Kvarner presents cooperation with RDA
At the ITB, the Kvarner tourist board (TZ) presented its cooperation with the International Bus Association (RDA), which after 20 years will hold its annual assembly again in Rijeka, in October 2024.
This is a great opportunity for additional promotion and tourist arrivals because the RDA is the largest association of bus operators, which brings together 2,600 organisations from 40 countries around the world, and many of them will come to Rijeka. Many of them have been bringing a large number of travellers to Kvarner for years, which they also announce for this year. Bus operators also rely on sustainable strategies, and they are important to us because they bring a lot of guests in the pre- and post-season, which is important to us, said the director of TZ Kvarner, Irena Peršić Živadinov.
She also presented data showing that in the last ten years, the number of overnight stays in Kvarner has increased by 100 percent, and in the first two months of 2024 alone, there will be a 50% increase compared to 2019.
