April 30, 2024 – The first solo-gastro show in the eastern Croatian municipality of Andrijaševci was a big hit, bringing together true lovers of Slavonian and Srijem delicacies.
Alongside the spicy flavors, dishes made from the famous asparagus from this municipality, nestled by the Bosut River in the Vukovar-Srijem County, were also promoted.
Janko Čuha’s agricultural farm from Soljani, near Županja, clinched the champion title in both categories at the inaugural GastRoA gourmet show held in Andrijaševci, with an impressive score of 90.04 points for sausage and 91.66 points for kulenova seka.
A total of 49 samples were judged in the first evaluation – 24 sausages and 25 kulenova sekas from across the Vukovar-Srijem County.
Alongside the champion titles in the sausage category, four gold, 13 silver, and four bronze medals, as well as two commendations, were awarded. In the kulenova seka category, eight gold, 13 silver, and three bronze medals were bestowed.
“Our aim is to brand local products and pave their way to the market, and events like this are of great assistance, particularly in terms of promotion,” emphasized Damir Dekanić, the county prefect of Vukovar-Srijem County.
The Mayor of Andrijaševci Municipality, Ante Rajković, expressed gratitude to all participants who submitted their top-notch products for evaluation, extending congratulations to the winners and the champion.
“I believe this event will become traditional because our producers and audience deserve it,” Rajković conveyed. Over the past weekend, a large number of hedonists gathered at the primary school in Andrijaševci for this gourmet event, where they indulged in the awarded delicacies and specialties prepared from the famous asparagus of Andrijaševci.
Among the audience was a familiar face from television, chef Tomislav Špiček, who cleared a day in his busy schedule to come and support the sausage and kulenova seka producers.
“Thumbs up for such events. Croatia is rich in excellent food; we have exceptionally high-quality ingredients and should hold onto our traditional dishes,” Špiček remarked. The show in Andrijaševci once again affirmed that the Vukovar-Srijem County is an attractive gourmet destination, exceptionally rich in authentic dishes, where every meal is a true feast.
