ZAGREB, 11 May (Hina) – The Croatian Air Force Commander, Major General Michael Križanec, has been inducted into the International Honor Roll of the US Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama, the Ministry of Defence announced in a press release on Friday.

The International Honor Roll (IHR) is a prestigious acknowledgment of international officers and senior non-commissioned officers who are alumni of the Air University and have achieved the highest military or prominent civilian positions, the press release said.

Križanec graduated from the Faculty of Traffic Sciences in Zagreb in 1997, specialising in military piloting, thus becoming part of the first generation educated in  Croatia.

He then went to the United States, where he completed officer and command staff school at Maxwell Air University and obtained a master’s degree. In 2005, he completed an advanced study of national security for leaders in Germany.

In his military career, he distinguished himself as the deputy commander and later commander of the Multi-Purpose Helicopter Squadron, officer for joint doctrine, executive officer to the Chief of Staff, and commander of the 91st Air Base of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence. He was the first commander of the Croatian Air Force contingent in NATO in Kosovo.

General Križanec has been awarded several decorations and recognitions.

In addition to Križanec, another 21 international  representatives have been inducted.

The Croatian Air Force now has three officers on the IHR – Colonel Josip Štimac received this prestigious recognition in 2001 and Brigadier General Dražen Šćuri in 2011.
