Croatia’s culinary scene awaits the unveiling of the new Michelin Guide. In July, the new guide for Croatia is expected to be released.
As every year before the Guide’s publication, there’s a lot of talk in professional circles about who might gain or lose a star.
The current restaurants in Croatia with a Michelin star are:
Korak (Plešivica), Pelegrini (Šibenik), 360º (Dubrovnik), Monte (Rovinj), Noel (Zagreb), Draga di Lovrana (Lovran), Boškinac (Novalja), LD Restaurant (Korčula), Nebo (Rijeka), Alfred Keller (Mali Lošinj), and Agli Amici (Rovinj).
Draga di Lovrana (Lovran) had a Michelin star but they returned it.
This year, it could be the first time that a Croatian restaurant earns two stars and Gastro portal Kult Plave Kamenice have published a list of restaurants that that meet the criteria for new stars.
They have also published a shortlist of candidates for new Michelin stars in Croatia.
Candidates for a second Michelin star:
Agli Amici (Rovinj)
Agli Amici in Italy has held two stars for quite a while now. Chef and co-owner Emanuele Scarello openly expresses his hope for a second star in Rovinj. Agli Amici, with its precision, complexity, and innovative cooking, along with its pure flavors and quality ingredients, definitely deserves a second star.
Korak (Plešivica)
The restaurant is an example of successful transformation of food from a rural setting into internationally relevant fine dining with strong characteristics of local micro-regions.
