Billed by organisers as the world’s ‘biggest open-air discotheque in the world’, the 4th edition of Discotheque Riva, set to be held on the Split’s famous waterfront next weekend has officially been cancelled.
Organisers announced the decision on the weekend after it was reported on Thursday that the event was in question due to the organisers failing to pay the City of Split the 570,000 kuna (76,000 EUR) rental fee for the space. British DJ Fatboy Slim, who was set to perform at the event, had this to say about the cancellation to his Croatian fans.
“I am really sorry for all of those who expected me in Split next weekend, but unfortunately, I am not coming. Local promoters have had some unforseen problems which can not be resolved. I hope to see you in Croatia soon,” said the popular DJ.
Fans who bought tickets already for next weekend’s Discotheque Riva will not be out-of-pocket. All tickets will be fully refunded from the places they were purchased from.
