Croatian actress stars in Italian film with world premiere in Venice

Croatian actress Tesa Litvan plays one of the leading roles in the Italian feature film “Diva Futura,” which has been included in the competition program of this year’s Venice International Film Festival.
The film, which will also have its world premiere in Venice, is directed by renowned Italian-American actress, screenwriter, and director Giulia Louise Steigerwalt.
Based on the biography of a former secretary of the popular erotic entertainment agency Diva Futura, the film follows the birth of Italy’s porn industry.
In the 80s and 90s Italy photographer Riccardo Scicchi and his agency Diva Futura are revolutionising culture with all the biggest stars of the moment.
Cicciolina is elected to parliament with twenty thousand votes, whilst Moana Pozzi runs for mayor. These iconic divas, known all around the world, had hidden heart wrenching stories.
The film is produced by Groenlandia, one of the leading Italian independent production companies.
A graduate of Zagreb Academy of dramatic arts, 28 year old Litvan is a long term collaborator in Drama and Opera sections at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, where she had many distinguished roles and is also known from her numerous screen roles: “Love or Death” by Daniel Kušan, “Nosila je rubac črleni” by Goran Dukić, “The Diary Of Diana B.,” as well as the TV series “Success” by Danis Tanović.
In Diva Futura, Tesa Litvan portrays one of Scicchi’s divas and his wife Eva Henger. She auditioned for the role among more than 120 actresses from all over Europe. Only ten of them were invited to Rome for the final audition where she was selected.
Diva futura will be screened in the main competition program Venezia 81 that comprises of 21 films, including new works by Pedro Almodovar, Luca Guadagnino, Pablo Larrain and others.
Other cast members in Diva futura include Pietro Castellitto, Barbara Ronchi, Lidija Kordić and Denise Capezza.
The 81st Venice Film Festival will be held from August 28 – September 7.
