Croatian NBA stars to play match in memory of Dražen Petrović

ZAGREB, 22 Aug (Hina) – Croatia’s national basketball team and a European selection will play a match on 5 September in Zagreb to mark the 60th anniversary of the birth of Croatian basketball legend Dražen Petrović.
Petrović, who is one of the most famous basketball players of all time, died in a car crash in 1993.
Current Croatian NBA stars Bojan Bogdanović, Dario Šarić and Ivica Zubac, members of the Croatian national basketball team, will arrive for the match.
Bogdanović plays for the Brooklyn Nets, Šarić is a professional basketball player and a member of the Denver Nuggets while Zubac plays for the Los Angeles Clippers.
All three of them were very much inspired by Dražen Petrović’s life while on their way to the NBA.
The Zagreb sports event, to be held at Zagreb’s Arena sports hall under the auspices of the Croatian government, will also be attended by former Croatian NBA players Damjan Rudež and Gordan Giriček.
In addition to its sports dimension, the match also has cultural importance as it celebrates the life and legacy of Dražen Petrović, whose name is synonymous with exceptional talent, commitment and inspiration.
In less than 20 days, millions of basketball lovers and people admiring the Croatian basketball virtuoso will once again pay tribute to the great athlete whose legacy keeps inspiring new generations of athletes.
