To mark the 60th anniversary of the birth of Croatian basketball legend Dražen Petrović, the Croatian National Bank, in collaboration with the Croatian Mint, has produced a series of gold and silver commemorative coins titled “Dražen Petrović.”
On the reverse of the coins, the designer, sculptor Nikola Vudrag, presents the image of a basketball going through a hoop, symbolising Dražen’s success on the court.
The obverse of the coins features him in a dynamic basketball pose, a scene cherished by fans in Croatia and around the world.
The collection includes a variety of coin denominations: a gold coin with a nominal value of 200 euros, another gold coin valued at 100 euros, and silver coins with nominal values of 8 euros, 6 euros, and 4 euros.
The coins are created by the Croatian Mint in the highest minting quality, polished plate. The gold coin with a nominal value of 200 euros weighs 100 grams and is issued in a limited series of just 60 pieces.
The collection is beautifully presented in thematic packaging designed by Izvorka Jurić from Dig Studio.
Each purchase includes a capsule, a corresponding box, a numbered certificate, and a booklet about the product.
On this occasion, the Croatian National Bank and the Croatian Mint extend their special thanks to the Petrović family and the Dražen Petrović Foundation.
The Foundation, respecting Dražen’s legacy, approved the project and provided all necessary information and materials to bring this unique commemorative coin issue to life, serving as a fitting tribute to the legendary basketball player.
The “Dražen Petrović” collection will be available for purchase on the Croatian Mint’s online shop and through sales partners from 5th September.
