Top 10 most popular places in Croatia in 2024

In the first eight months of 2024, Croatia saw a 4% rise in arrivals and a 1% increase in overnight stays compared to last year.
While July showed a slight dip in numbers, August more than made up for it, leading to an overall net gain of 110,000 tourists during the peak season.
Below are the top 10 most popular destinations based on the number of overnight stays made by tourists as reported by the Ministry of Tourism:
1. Rovinj
Known for its charming old town and stunning coastal views, Rovinj in Istria continues to be the top destination in Croatia.
2. Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik, arguably the most famous destination in Croatia, was also popular this year.
3. Poreč
Istria was busy and Poreč was another popular choice, especially for families.
4. Split
Split, home to the ancient Diocletian’s Palace, drawn in visitors year after year.
5. Umag
With its picturesque coastline and renowned sports facilities, Umag is a favourite for active travellers and those seeking relaxation.
6. Medulin
Medulin’s beaches and laid-back atmosphere has made it a popular destination over the past few years.
7. Vir
The island of Vir, with its beautiful beaches and untouched nature, has consistently been a popular place.
8. Zadar
Zadar is known for its unique blend of ancient history and modern attractions, including the famous Sea Organ and Sun Salutation.
9. Novalja
Famous for its vibrant nightlife and beach parties, Novalja on the island of Pag is a hotspot for younger tourists and those seeking lively summer fun.
