Just weeks after announcing that he will build ‘the nicest skateboard park in Europe’ at Lake Bundek park in Zagreb, the Mayor of the Croatian capital Milan Bandic said on Wednesday that next year he will also build an aquapark.
Bandic plans that the project will give the city dwellers a place to ‘cool down’ during the hot summer months.
“One night I passed by the fountain where around 200 adults and 50 kids were swimming. Let the kids play and cool down, but it is not a swimming pool, so next year we will build an aquapark at Bundek so people can stop swimming in the fountains,” said Bandic, adding that the council plans to build three more fountains in the city also next year.
Even though not a ‘brick had been laid’, the Mayor was quick to come up with an entry price to the new aquapark. “For 10 kuna (1.3 EUR) kids and adults will be able to enjoy in water activities,” said Bandic, adding that all Zagreb residents who can not afford to head to the Adriatic coast during the summer will have somewhere to go.
