The 8th Conference of the Association of Croatian American Professionals (ACAP) is taking place in Las Vegas from 3rd to 6th October 2024.
The event brings together Croatian-American experts from various industries to strengthen connections, share ideas, and explore new opportunities for global success.
This year’s conference, titled “Croatians: Globally Connected, Locally Shaped,” is focused on fostering collaboration among Croatian-American experts.
Croatian Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Defence, Ivan Anušić, is attending the conference and during the opening ceremony, he expressed his pleasure at participating and highlighted the importance of such events in strengthening Croatian-American relations and creating new opportunities for Croatian professionals and businesses on the global stage.
He paid special tribute to Croatian emigrants in the United States and around the world, emphasising their success, dedication, and strong ties to their homeland.
Anušić also praised their willingness to contribute to Croatia’s future development through their knowledge and experience.
“The Government of the Republic of Croatia recognises the exceptional contribution of Croatian emigrants, who have become respected members of communities worldwide through their hard work and success, while maintaining a deep connection to their homeland.
We are proud that our emigrants continue to identify as Croatians and regard Croatia as their home. Many have achieved their life goals abroad and are now eager to share their knowledge, experiences, and vision to help further Croatia’s development,” said Anušić.
He also stressed the significance of many Croatian emigrants expressing a desire to return to Croatia, which would boost the country’s economic and demographic potential. “The Croatian Government is working with the Croatian diaspora worldwide to support and facilitate their return and reintegration into society,” he added.
Anušić noted that the Croatian diaspora, which includes over five million people, holds great potential not only for economic growth but also for political and diplomatic support in achieving Croatia’s future vision.
He reminded the audience of the diaspora’s crucial role and influence during the 1990s. The minister emphasised that the United States remains Croatia’s most important defence partner, with ongoing projects to modernise the Croatian Armed Forces with U.S. support.
“Peace is no longer a given; it requires investment. The United States is our strategic partner, and together with the U.S., we continue to modernise the Croatian military,” Anušić remarked.
On 5th October 2024, the conference will host various panels, workshops, and discussions, with a key segment being the panel titled “Learning from Our Veterans: Military Knowledge and Skills for Everyone,” featuring Minister Anušić.
