Leading travel site Condé Nast Traveller asked its readers to vote for the friendliest European destinations as part of its 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards.

When planning a holiday, travellers take into account many things like accommodation, weather, and food. However, it’s often the friendliness and hospitality of the locals that ultimately shape a destination’s charm.

According to votes, Croatia was ranked the third friendliest country in Europe, scoring an impressive 92.45.

This is a notable rise from 10th place in last year’s rankings, cementing Croatia’s reputation as one of Europe’s most welcoming nations.

“Croatia has now established itself as one of Europe’s friendliest countries and earned itself a spot in the top three. This country may be small, but it is rich with national parks, UNESCO World Heritage sites and lots of pebbly beaches,” writes Condé Nast Traveller.

The Croatian island of Hvar has made the list as the 10th best island in the world.
