Advent in the Croatian capital Zagreb once again has earned global acclaim, making it onto CNN’s list of the best Christmas markets in the world for 2024.
Christmas markets have a long and storied history, originating in Vienna back in 1298. Over the centuries, the tradition has spread far and wide.
CNN recently published an extensive article, showcasing the best Christmas markets around the world for 2024.
Among the 22 most captivating markets highlighted, Advent in Zagreb proudly claims its spot.
This year’s Advent in Zagreb will officially begin with the lighting of the first Advent candle on Ban Jelačić Square on November 30 and will continue until January 7.
CNN highlights the variety and vibrancy of Zagreb’s Advent, noting the live Nativity scenes, mesmerizing ice sculptures, lively outdoor gigs, and pop-up bars. A particular favorite is the Christmas tram, where Santa and his elves spread joy to passengers of all ages.
One of the standout features of Advent in Zagreb also mentioned is “Fuliranje” or “fooling around.” This area is a hub of activity, with street food vendors, live entertainment, and revelers dancing in the streets. It’s a place where festive spirit truly comes alive, capturing the hearts of both locals and tourists.
In addition to Zagreb, other notable Christmas markets on CNN’s list include those in Denmark, the UK, Germany, Canada, the USA, Finland, Estonia, and Sweden.
