Former U.S. President Donald Trump will officially become the 47th President of the United States.
Although ballots are still being counted, the result is clear and Trump’s campaign has claimed a substantial victory, and Trump himself has declared the win.
Leaders around the world are already extending their congratulations, including Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and President Zoran Milanović.
“I congratulate Donald Trump on his victory and election as president of the United States of America. The new president of the USA was elected by a clear majority of American citizens out of all those who went to the polls, and in any democracy the will of the majority of voters is imperative. Since the acquisition of Croatian independence, the USA has was a partner and friend, I am convinced that this will remain the choice of the new president,” President Milanović wrote on Facebook.
Prime Minister Plenković expressed his congratulations to Trump on X.
Plenković said: “Congratulations to Donald Trump on a convincing victory and a second term as the U.S. President. I look forward to our cooperation and further advancing relations.”
During his victory speech, Trump thanked his supporters, saying, “I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honour of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president.” Trump emphasised that he had won the popular vote, referring to what he called an “unprecedented and powerful mandate” from American voters.

Trump also took a moment to highlight his running mate, J.D. Vance, who had been a controversial but ultimately successful choice. During the speech, Vance described Trump’s win as “the greatest political comeback in American history,” acknowledging the challenges they had overcome together.
In a nod to the tech industry, Trump praised Elon Musk, calling him a “star” and “an amazing guy,” acknowledging Musk’s significant role in shaping the technological landscape of the country.
He also touched on healthcare, indicating a possible role in his administration for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who previously ran as an independent presidential candidate. “RFK Jr will ‘make America healthy again,’” Trump said, hinting that Kennedy would focus on healthcare policy.
