Moderate earthquake recorded near Rijeka

Early on Wednesday morning, a moderate earthquake rattled the area around the Croatian city of Rijeka, prompting reactions from locals across social media and earthquake tracking apps.
“It shook quite a lot! A rumble and tremor for a few seconds. It shook hard in Viškovo. There was shaking around Grobnik…”
These are just some of the comments flooding in on the EMSC app, describing the earthquake that struck near Rijeka.
According to the Croatian Seismological Service, the earthquake registered a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter scale.
“Today, 13 November 2024, at 11:03 a.m., seismographs from the Croatian Seismological Service recorded a moderate earthquake with an epicentre near Grobnik, 8 kilometres northeast of Rijeka.
The earthquake had a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter scale, and the intensity at the epicentre was estimated at IV to V degrees on the EMS scale,” they said.
