For Adam Kovacevic, what started as a personal quest to recreate a taste of home has grown into a thriving business that celebrates Croatian culinary traditions in Australia.

Cro Fire Food, established in 2018, specialises in Croatian-style BBQs and has become a go-to destination for people down under who to raise their home cooking game.

“I started by making things for myself because no one else offered what I needed,” Adam told us. “Then friends got interested, and now we ship Australia-wide and occasionally internationally.”

From a Passion Project to a Growing Enterprise

What began as a one-man operation quickly expanded. Today, Adam and his Croatian business partner Jeremy Gasperov handle the fabrication work, supported by a skilled Croatian bricklayer based in Sydney.

For tasks outside their expertise, they subcontract to trusted professionals. This collaborative approach ensures that every project meets Cro Fire Food’s high standards.

The business offers a full suite of services, from design and engineering to construction and fit-out. “We can handle as much or as little as a client needs,” Adam explains.

“Every project is tailored to the customer’s needs and budget.” Their creations range from traditional brick BBQs to sleek, standalone stainless steel units, reflecting the diverse preferences of their clientele.

A Community-Centered Mission

Cro Fire Food’s connection to the Croatian community is at the heart of its work.

One of their standout achievements is a mobile rotisserie trailer capable of cooking up to 11 animals simultaneously.

This impressive setup serves the local Croatian community monthly at the new Croatian Club in Concord, bringing people together to share meals and celebrate cultural traditions.

“Many happy moments—weddings, birthdays, Christmas, Easter—are celebrated with a typical Croatian pig or lamb on the spit,” Adam says.

A Star Project in Brisbane

Among their most notable projects is the custom BBQ created for Emil Juresic, a successful Croatian-Australian businessman. Emil, who moved to Australia at 16, invited Cro Fire Food to design and engineer a bespoke BBQ for his multimillion-dollar Brisbane home.

Adam and his team flew interstate to handle the intricate fit-out process, collaborating with local trades for the construction.

“It was an honour to work on such a significant project,” Adam recalls. “It showed how deeply our cuisine and traditions are rooted in our identity, no matter where life takes us.”
