The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) has been gifted a unique Croatian flag that holds the Guinness World Record for being the largest flag placed underwater.
The record-breaking flag was originally set by the late Jakov Korljan, former president of the TIMUN Ecological-Diving Club in Gradac, near Makarska.
In June 2019, to celebrate Statehood Day, members of the club unveiled the massive flag on the seabed near Gradac, setting a new Guinness World Record.
Measuring an impressive 22 by 10 metres and covering an area of 220 square metres, the Croatian flag surpassed the previous record held by a New Zealand group, whose flag covered 160 square metres.
The flag was presented to the Croatian Football Federation by Jakov Korljan’s family, including his wife Danijela and son Šime.
During the handover in Split, Šime met with the HNS president, Marijan Kustić, as well as national team players Martin Baturina, Josip Šutalo, and Ivica Ivušić.
