A new port will be built on Croatia’s Pelješac peninsula after the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure approved funding for the project.
The new port will be built in Perna, in the municipality of Orebić.
The Dubrovnik-Neretva County Port Authority has been granted €19.54 million from the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Cohesion to finance the construction of the new public port, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County confirmed.

Luka Perna is one of the key infrastructure projects in the county. Along with the Orebić bypass, for which the public procurement process is currently underway, the port will help resolve a major transport issue in the area.

Orebić lies directly across a narrow channel from the town of Korčula, which is situated on the island sharing its name. The town is approximately 112 km (70 mi) from Dubrovnik.

The new port is also expected to improve connectivity between the island of Korčula and the Pelješac peninsula, making travel easier for locals and visitors alike, authorities said.
