Croatian To Make Calling A New York Cab Easy

19-year-old Croat Sven Kapuđija, a freshman from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb, has invented a mobile application that is beginning to make waves in cities around the world, including New York.

Kapuđija invented the “Trambus” application to avoid the situation of turning up to a bus station and having the bus leave right under your nose. The application was initially designed to help those with the Zagreb public transport system who were not from Zagreb.

“You select the starting station or the initial location, enter the station or address of where you want to go and Trambus tells you which lines should go and when they will arrive,” described Sven to Dnevnik.hr, adding that his grandmother played a part in the project, manually inputting all timetables onto the web.

The Application has won a number of awards both in Croatia and overseas and companies are knocking on Sven’s door, including one that are working on an application project with Sven to make calling a taxi in New York City easy.

“I don’t see this as a job or an obligation, it is just a pure enjoyment to work and create something,” said Sven.
