Korcula Island’s Latest Resident Born in Croatian Air Force Helicopter

When one newborn Croatian boy from the island of Korcula grows up and has to fill out his ‘place of birth’ on any forms, he may get some strange looks from staff on the other side of the counter.
“In the Croatian Air Forces Air Defence Mi-8 MTV helicopter today, 30 August 2013 at 4:30am, on an urgent medical flight from the island of Korcula, a baby was born,” announced the Croatian Ministry of Defence on Friday.
The happy mother (36) delivered the baby boy in the helicopter over the Brac canal, just a few minutes from its planned landing destination at Split hospital on the mainland. Both mother and baby are fine and have made their way to Split hospital.
