Zadar Want Winter Tourists Also

Locals from the sun-kissed Dalmatian coastal city of Zadar will for the first time be able to partake in an activity that one would not associate with the mediterranean destination- Ice skating.  The Zadar City Council is about to sign a deal that will see a 25×15 meter outdoor ice skating rink be placed at a carpark in town.

The outdoor rink will be open from 15 November to 5 February, giving the Zadar locals something to do on a winter’s day and also aim to attract winter tourists to the traditionally busy summer hot spot.

“This is the result of our proposal to the City Council to revive the old city. Our objection was that the majority of funds are invested in the summer when the city already has a lot of visitors and tourists, and the rest of the year that part of the city dies,” said the Zadar Trades Association.

The project, reports Slobodna Dalmacija, will cost in the range of around 20,000 euros.
