One Croatian national was amongst a number of foreigners caught up in the hostage drama at the Nairobi Westgate shopping mall attack in the Kenyan capital on Sunday.
Kenyan soldiers have launched a night-time rescue operation to end a terrorist takeover of the shopping mall. Terrorists, using guns and grenades, slaughtered 68 people in the attack. One man caught up in the drama was Croatian Miro Marinovich, who had been living in Nairobi with his wife and two children since June this year after becoming the assistant director of the African department of the Church World Service. Around 1,000 people have managed to escape from the mall, including Marinovich, who friends claim was held as hostage for 3 hours, reports daily Jutarnji list.
