Croatia’s Sandra Perković Nominated for World Athlete of the Year

Croatia’s Olympic gold medal winning discus thrower Sandra Perković has been nominated for the 2013 Female World Athlete of the Year award.
After wining gold in London in 2012, Perković in 2013 has claimed the world championship in Moscow, and for the second time in a row won the discus Diamond League. The award will be decided by votes from visitors to the World Athletic Federation’s official website here. Voting will run till 27 October, when the top 3 will go forward to the main ceremony on 16 November in Monaco where the winner will be announced.
Perković’s competition comes in the form of shot put champion Valerie Adamas, Abebe Aregawi (1500 m), Meseret Defar (3000 m), Tirunesh Dibaba (5000 m), Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (100 m), Zuzana Hejnova (400 m hurdles), Caterine Ibarguen (triple jump), Brianna Rollins (100 m hurdles) and Svetlana Skolina (high jump).
