Tourism Revenue up 11% in Croatia in First 8 Months

Revenues from tourism in the first eight months of this year have increased by 11 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching almost 18 billion kuna (2.4 billion EUR),  the Ministry of Tourism has announced on Monday.

The data, obtained from the state tax office, relates to the total financial income generated from tourism activities, such as accommodation, food service and the operations of travel agencies and tour operators, the Ministry noted.

Commenting on Monday’s announcement, Minister of Tourism Darko Lorencin says that between 2 and 3 percent growth is expected this year compared to 2012’s tourism revenues. The biggest growth in the first eight months of this year – 32% – was recorded in the food service sector, with revenues also from camping activities markedly up from last year (13%).

At the other end of the scale, revenues generated by tour operators and travel agencies dropped in 2013. Tour Operator revenues were down 2%, with travel agencies generating 3 billion kuna (380,000 EUR) in the first eight months of the year – down 3% from last year.
