Eduardo: I Play For Croatia, But Feel Like A Foreigner

Croatia’s Brazilian born striker Eduardo da Silva did not celebrate his goal during the week in the World Cup qualifier against Wales, and he has now revealed why.

The day before the important World Cup qualifier, Eduardo went to withdraw some money out of his bank account in Croatia to find that is account had been blocked. Eduardo is in a long running dispute with Croatian Football Federation board member, and Dinamo chief Zdravko Mamic.

“I did not celebrate the goal. Why? Some things are hurting me. The day before the Wales game I wanted to withdraw some money out from the bank, but I couldn’t. My bank account has been blocked,” said Eduardo, who said he was wanting to withdraw some of the money he was paid for by the federation for this year’s Euros, reported 24sata.

Eduardo confirmed that the account had been blocked because he lost the initial part of a dispute with Mamic. The dispute relates to terms of a contract Eduardo signed with Mamic’s son, who is a player agent, when he first arrived in Croatia from Brazil. Eduardo also said his apartment and car are also no longer in his name in Croatia.

“I play for Croatia, but I feel like a foreigner. If I lived here I would be hungry. I don’t have anything in Croatia, said a disappointed da Silva, who has scored 26 times for Croatia in 53 appearances.
