Former Croatia football captain Zvonimir Boban earnt millions in his days as a professional footballer with Italian giants AC Milan, but it is his namesake, a horse in Australia, who is making all the coin these days.
The rapidly-improving galloper Boban has just won the 1 Million dollar Group 1 Emirates Stakes in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday, collecting his second Group 1 race of the spring and trainer Chris Waller’s third top-flight triumph in the space of eight days.
Boban is owned by a group of former Melbourne Knights football players, including Mark Pejić, Mirko Cugura and Ivan Jolić, and has been rated as the most improved horse in Australia with big things still yet to come. Boban has won 8 from 18 starts so far this year.
