Going to the World Cup in Brazil should be motivation enough for Croatia’s football players, but the Croatian FA has decided to give the players an extra bit of motivation ahead of its playoff clash with Iceland.
Croatian FA President Davor Šuker has decided to reward the side with 500,000 euros each if they manage to beat Iceland and qualify for Brazil next summer.
“The Croatian Football Federation will reward the players with a bonus to the tune of 500,000 euros if they advance through the playoffs against Iceland and qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil in 20014,” said a statement from the Croatian FA.
The first leg of the home and away playoff is tonight in Reykjavik, with the return leg on Tuesday at Zagreb’s Maksimir stadium.
