Croatia will go to the polls next Sunday to decide on the constitutional definition of marriage, and the nation’s Prime Minister has weighed in by telling the public how they should be voting…
“As a person and the President of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), but not as the Prime Minister – who was not involved in this, I say, and invite the public to vote for the right of every person to happiness and choice, which means a vote against the referendum initiative that threatens those rights,” said Milanović on Sunday, adding that he thought the referendum was a pointless exercise, but allowed under the Constitution.
The referendum, initiated by the conservative lobby ‘In the Name of Family’, is demanding that marriage be defined in the Constitution as a union between a man and a woman.
