Trains connecting the Croatian capital Zagreb with surrounding areas should not have any more problems with late arrivals, after a 12.6 million euro new system will now see trains travel at double the speed…
Croatian Railways has announced that a new timetable is set to be released next month for the 2014 year, with the major change coming in the Borongaj – Dugo Selo, Velika Gorica – Turopolje – Zagreb – Klara route. Currently trains go at 70 kilometres per hour, however they will now go at 140 kilometres per hour after the upgrade of the system which had been in use since 1940.
“Finally passengers can enjoy in our great new system,” said Croatian Railways, adding that the system upgrade project, which begin in 2010, was part financed by the EU.
