St. Andrew’s Day in the Heart of Zagreb

St. Andrew’s Day might be on November 30th, but that didn’t stop supporters of all things Scottish from gathering in History bar on Tkalčićeva in the Croatian capital Zagreb for some good old fashioned dancing, bagpipes, and of course locally prepared haggis…
Kvatrić Catering, who prepared the haggis, were so intrigued with this most Scottish of dishes that it wouldn’t be a surprise to see at other, more traditionally Croatian, events. The guests were not short of a dram of whisky either, with Famous Grouse kindly helping out.
Awards on the night were given to David Slinn, Ambassador to Croatia, and Anja Mihaldinec of Famous Grouse. It may be that this is the last St. Andrew’s Day under the official purview of Hrvatsko društvo prijatelja Velike Britanije, the Friendship Society of Great Britain, but that won’t stop all from continuing to enjoy the day in question.
