The oldest Christmas markets in the world, the Strasbourg Christmas Markets in France, this year celebrates its 443rd edition, and this year it is held in honour of Croatia…
The very first edition of the Christmas market under its current name, the “Christkindelsmärik” was held in 1570 outside Strasbourg Cathedral, and this year visitors have has the chance to sample some mulled wine, made according to an old Zagreb recipe, try and buy some Croatian oil, honey, wine, glass ornaments and coral jewelry amongst other things. A choir from Croatia is also entertaining the thousands of daily visitors. The Croatian Christmas village is expected to receive more than 30,000 visitors a day while it is open until the new year.
