For the first time in history the Croatian leg of the FIS Ski World Cup – the Vip Snow Queen Trophy, which has been held for the past 9 years on Sljeme in the capital Zagreb, has been cancelled...
Zagreb’s mild, snowless winter has put paid to the ski showcase, which was set for 4 and 6 January, for the first time.
“Considering the temperature, and not low enough temperatures in the next few days, both slalom races in Zagreb have been cancelled,” said the International Ski Federation after examining the course on Saturday.
Zagreb has not received any significant snow yet this winter, and bright sunny skies and warm 12 degree temperatures greeted coarse inspectors on Saturday before they made the decision to cancel both the men’s and women’s slalom. Races will now take place on 5 and 6 January in Bormio, Italy. (pic: FIS)
