One primary school in Croatia hopes to become one of the world’s first energy independent schools, and is using crowdfunding platform Indiegogo to get there…
The school, located in the Dalmatian town of Kaštel Lukšić, is hoping to collect enough funds for a PV system on its roof through a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. The school hopes both local communities and individuals from Croatia and abroad will donate to the project.
The school wants to install a solar power plant on its roof to help generate its own electricity, and become of the few energy independent schools in the world. The school says that with savings made by lowering their power bill, they will be able to invest in equipment and learning aids to help children’s education at the school. Ostog Primary school have set the bar on Indiegogo at 10,000 USD, and with 25 days remaining in their campaign they are around $6,000 shy. The school’s crowdfunding campaign however will be matched by the United Nations Development Programme, for every 1 dollar donated, the UNDP will donate $1.50 to the project.
