Thousands of Cars and Boats to be Seized and Sold at Auction

According to a report in daily Novi list, around fifteen thousand cars and thousands of sailboats and yachts are already on the tax departments seizure list. The owners, mostly ‘wealthy’ individuals, are being pursued by the authorities for tax evasion. The subsequent auction of the cars and boats will see them sold for discounted prices. With more than 15,000 vehicles about to enter the market, those in the business are cautious as to whether or not it will affect business for them.

The Croatian Tax Authorities are currently in the midst of a big crack down in the county.  Around 50% (70,000) of those who owe tax money to the state have come clean, with some agreeing rescheduling of their debt.
