Forecasters got it exactly right as most of Croatia woke up to falling snow on Friday morning…
Snow started falling at around 6am this morning in continental Croatia, with more than 10 centimetres falling on Zagreb’s Sljeme mountain so far on Friday. The local met office says that between 20 and 30 centimetres of snowfall is expected to fall on Friday as the country waves goodbye to the record warm winter it was experiencing. Snow and strong north-easterly winds up to 65 km/h will dominate Friday as motorists were warned to take caution on the roads.
Although no snow had fallen on Croatia’s Adriatic coast, temperatures dropped by up 10 degrees in most places, with strong winds also forcing the cancellation of ferry lines between Ubli – Vela Luka – Hvar – Split and Korčula – Hvar – Split.
