Over 21,000 Pension Payments Abroad Stopped

More than 22,000 people have had their pension payments stopped after not supplying authorities with their national identification number (OIB), reports daily Vecernji list…

The Croatian Institute for Pension Insurance have yet to receive OIB’s from 788 Croatian residents, and 21,915 pensioners who reside abroad, and as a result have cancelled over 22,000 pension payments from November last year. Croatia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) have been notified so that they can check the status of those who have failed to submit their OIB’s.

With regards to the 21,915 pensioners who live abroad, the majority of pensions stopped as a result were for those living in Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. When pension payments were stopped in November, 2,500 locals and 47,000 foreign-based residents had failed to submit their OIB’s, since then that number has dropped to 788 and 21,915 after the Croatian Institute for Pension Insurance were notified of the details from the rest.
