Croatia’s €17M EuroJackpot Winner Reveals All

The Croatian woman who walked away with more than 17 million euros after winning the EuroJackpot earlier this month has spoken for the first time about her win and how it almost never happened…

“I decided by chance to play Eurojackpot, I actually wanted to pay ‘sedmica’ (Croatia’s local lotto)..but it was Friday so I ended up paying EuroJackpot. I didn’t realise I had purchased the ticket (online) two minutes before it closed,” said the winner from the capital Zagreb who wants to remain anonymous, before revealing how she found out about her life-changing win.

“I wanted to check the weather for the next day on teletext, but on the front page I saw that the winner of EuroJackpot was from Croatia. I then checked the numbers, even though I didn’t know mine off by heart, somehow the numbers 8,18,22 looked familiar and I thought I might have had at least 3 numbers. I checked on the internet my ticket and saw all my numbers were green and 105 million kuna,” said the shocked winner, who could not believe what she was seeing.

“After teletext I checked via SMS with my code…and then it hit me. Of course, I checked a few times. I couldn’t sleep that night,” the mystery woman said, revealing that she cracked open the champagne to celebrate when it sunk in. The new millionaire said she chose the numbers randomly and had no special method, although at the last-minute she changed the number 37 for 40, which was draw. The winning numbers on the night were: 8, 18, 22, 33. 40 – 2-8.
