Šimunić’s Lawyer 100% Convinced He Will Play in Brazil

The lawyer for suspended Croatian defender Joe Šimunić is confident that the Dinamo Zagreb skipper will be on the plane to Brazil as part of Croatia’s squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup come June…
Germany-based lawyer Davor Prtenjača has filed an appeal against a 10-match ban Šimunić received for chants made to the crowd following Croatia’s World Cup playoff victory over Iceland in November. Prtenjača has gathered more than 240,000 signatures of support for the 105-cap veteran.
“I am 100% convinced that Šimunić will play in Brazil,” Prtenjača told daily Jutarnji list, before adding. “I know that nobody in Croatia believes that, but that doesn’t matter, we will surprise everyone. Joe has not become despondent, he is an athlete, all athletes are fighters and I am sure that his punishment will be abolished.”
The FIFA appeal committee hearing date is still not known.
