Croatian President Urges Calm in Neighbouring Bosnia

Croatia’s President Ivo Josipović has called for calm as the worst unrest since the 1990’s war escalates in neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina with demonstrators setting fire to government buildings on the weekend…
Demonstrators have taken to the streets in Bosnia and Herzegovina, protesting over corruption, high unemployment and lack of competence of the nations politicians, but Josipović is urging them to try to resolve the problems within the frameworks of democratic institutions.
“To our neighbours and friends I wish for the situation to calm down as soon as possible. It is very important to have all social problems resolved within the frameworks of democratic institutions and I hope this will be the case in Bosnia as well,” Josipovic said from Sochi, Russia, where he is currently attending the Winter Olympics.
Hundreds have been injured during the last three days of unrest in towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina as demonstrators clash with police. Bosnia currently have an unemployment rate of 40%.
