Government to Gift Billion Kuna Land for Zagreb University Campus

The Croatian government on Thursday has accepted a draft proposal to donate state-owned land worth over 1 billion kuna (130 million euros) to the University of Zagreb for the construction of a Science campus in the Zagreb suburb of Borongaj….
“The Borongaj University Project is worth approximately one billion euros in total and it will need intensive inter-agency cooperation and collaboration of universities. These donations really gives the University prospects that it can soon be among the 300 best in the world”m said Education Minister Željko Jovanović.
Prime Minister Zoran Milanović said that the Borongaj project was an ambitious one, the biggest in the University’s history. The Borongaj Campus, which opened its first stage in 2007, will seat more than 35,000 students in 20 faculties, 15 high institutions and 20 agencies when it is complete.
The Faculty of Political Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Pedagogy and Drama Arts Faculty, Transport Sciences Faculty, Croatian Studies, and Education-Rehabilitation Faculty will all be part of the new campus.
