Šimunić in Brazil? – FIFA Give Up Proving ‘Za Dom – Spremni’ is Fascist Salute

FIFA has given up on proving that Josip Šimunić’s chant “Za dom – spremni”, which earned him a 10-match ban after Croatia’s World Cup qualifier against Iceland in November, is a fascist salute, his lawyer Davor Prtenjača has revealed….
Prtenjača will be representing Šimunić at his Court of Arbitration Sports (CAS) appeal trial which will get underway in Switzerland on 8 May. Prtenjača told Fenix magazine that a decision will be made just 4-days later on 12 May, a good sign says the German-based lawyer.
“It’s a good sign for us. Such cases usually last 6-8 months, and with us it will be resolved almost a month after filing the appeal,” said Prtenjača, adding that FIFA had given up on the assertion that “Za dom – spremni” was purely a fascist salute, but still claim Šimunić had provoked racial hated at Maksimir stadium.
Prtenjača believes that ‘Crazy Joe’ will be on Niko Kovač’s list which will board the plane for Brazil at the end of May.
