The Pula City Council in Istria have unanimously voted last night for the redevelopment of a former military base at Muzil, which will see an elite resort with 2500 beds, golf courses, marinas and hotels built, turning the peninsular into a tourist haven…
The decision to turn the former army complex over to investors to redevelop it into an elite tourist location has not pleased everyone, with protestors gathering yesterday outside the council headquarters.
“According to this it seems that every investor in Pula can change the spatial plan, and the local community can not,” said one protestor, adding that the building of apartments would destroy one of Pula’s most attractive resources.
Yesterday’s decision will mean concessions for the land will be issued to investors for between 66 and 99 years, reports Tportal.
