Hit HBO show Game of Thrones have confirmed that they will be back next year to film the fifth season in Croatia, and according to report from portal Dalmacija News, they will be shooting in new locations on the Dalmatian coast…
After filming in Dubrovnik and Split last for the fourth season, the report suggest that the towns of Imotski and Šibenik could be the latest to get a slice of the action. Imotski Mayor Ante Đuzel says that he has held discussions with HBO representatives, but said nothing was confirmed yet. Đuzel says that he will do everything in his power to enable the popular series to film in the region, which would be great promotion for Imotski and inland Dalmatia.
“Shooting Game of Thrones in Dalmatia certainly has a reputation in the world, and it has huge tourist potential. For example, the recent tourism fair in Barcelona where we advertised the Split-Dalmatia and Dubrovnik-Neretva Counties, we have created a map showing all the filming locations in Dalmatia, so that tourists can visit the area without any problems. 10,000 copies of the map were given out. At the same time, two travel agencies in the county have included visits to the sites in their regular programme. Exploiting the Game of Thrones brand promotion to the maximum in the Split-Dalmatia County,” said Split-Dalmatia Tourist Board Director JoškoStella.
