Croatia’s Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin says transport links are one of the key prerequisites for development of tourism, and says that the Ministry will strongly support the development of tourism in the Slavonia region in the east of the country…
Speaking in Osijek on Monday, Lorencin says that the government are whole heartedly behind developing the regions infrastructure to promote tourism, backed up by the fact that it invested more than 200,000 euros in promoting the new Osijek-London connection provided by Ryanair at Osijek Airport.
“That is an area (Slavonia) which in the next period we will do a lot of work, stimulate the private and public sector, because tourism in this region is not easy to establish, but with cooperation at both a local and regional level with the private sector, eastern Slavonia has great potential, and we can say that process of creating a tourism product in this area has begun, ” said Lorencin.
Osijek Airport has already recorded more than 500% growth this year thanks to the Ryanair connection, with more than 3,300 passengers in April this year.
