The Croatian government has announced that it will pay for the unemployed to be given jobs to help rebuild those regions which have been badly effected by floods…
The Ministry of Labour and Pension System, together with the Employment Service (HZZ), will provide for the salaries of those workers who are employed in flood stricken areas in eastern Croatia. The workers will paid the minimum wage in Croatia by the government which equates to just over 500 EUR a month. Brod-Posavina, Pozega-Slavonia, Vukovar-Srijem and some other counties will be approved for the salary compensation scheme. Around 1,500 people are now homeless and are not expected to be able to return to their homes for at least another 3 months after flooding devastated the region.
