Croatia’s President Ivo Josipović has had lunch with his U.S counterpart Barack Obama on Tuesday in Poland, where he took the opportunity to present energy security and energy possibilities in Croatia, reported the Office of the President…
“As we sat around the table, I had the honour and opportunity to talk with President Obama who was sitting right next to me. We spoke out some specific questions. I pointed out the issue of energy and the opportunities that Croatia has,” Josipović said.
“Croatia can help along with others to diversify energy sources,” Croatia’s President said, before adding that the Krk LNG project, and oil and gas reserves in the Adriatic, which may contribute to the energy independence of Central and Eastern Europe, were discussed during the meeting.
A public tender for the concession to explore Croatia’s Adriatic coast for oil and gas was announced by Croatia’s Economy Ministry in April after 2D seismic surveys of oil and gas reserves along 15,000 kilometres of Croatia’s Adriatic sea were completed.
The U.S President met with Josipović in Warsaw where he was attending a meeting of Central and Eastern European Leaders at the Presidential Palace. Obama is visiting Warsaw, Brussels, Paris and Normandy this week where he is expected to explain more on the U.S. commitment to counter Russian moves against Ukraine, and to give his assurance to nervous allies that the U.S will protect them.
