Split and Dubrovnik Lead the Way as Tourism Income up 15%

Good news for Croatian tourism and all those involved as peak season approaches. In the first five months of the year 8.14 billion kuna (1.07 billion euros) income has been generated from tourism, up 15% from the same period last year, reports Nova TV…
The biggest growth over the past 12 months has been made in the Dalmatian city of Split, which has enjoyed 24% more tourist arrivals, and 23% more overnight stays. There was growth in other counties also. The Dubrovnik-Neretva County enjoyed 9% more tourists and 6% more overnight stays. With 2% more arrivals and 1% more overnight stays, the Kvarner region experienced growth in the first half of this year also.
Croatia’s Minister of Tourism Darko Lorencin hopes that 2014 will come close to eclipsing the record 2008 year, when 1 billion euros was generated.
