A brace either side of halftime from Aalborg striker Anders Jacobsen has ended Dinamo Zagreb’s dream of qualifying for this season’s UEFA Champions League…
The 0-2 scoreline to the Danish champions painted a completely different picture that what went on at Zagreb’s Maksimir stadium. The Croatians dictated the match, creating a number of chances in each half and were made to pay for their missed chances when Jacobsen netted just before halftime, and again near the end of the match to send them through to the final round of qualifying 1-2 on aggregate.
“It is hard to find words. We played well for 30 minutes in the first half, We created some excellent chances and controlled the match…then Aalborg score with their first chance,” Dinamo coach Zoran Mamić said, before adding.
“We dictated the tempo in the second half also, creating chances but we couldn’t finish them. They did. Life goes on,” a dejected Mamić concluded.
Dinamo will now join the last round of qualifying for the UEFA Europa League. (pic: instagram)
