Croatia’s most successful model Kristina Šalinović, who was the first Croatian to appear on the cover of the Italian edition of Vogue, has started rubbing shoulders with some of Hollywood’s A-listers, and the 24-year-old from Makarska says she has been left disappointed in some cases…
Šalinović, who has modelled collections at the biggest fashion week’s in the world for the likes of Armani, Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton, has quickly become one of the world’s top 50 models, and her job has enabled her to meet some well-known faces.
“I had the opportunity to meet Leonardo DiCaprio,” Kristina told daily Jutarnji list, before taking a swipe at the movie-star. “What can I tell you about DiCaprio? I was a little disappointed, because I remembered the great actor from ‘Titanic’ and ‘The Basketball Diaries’, and when we met and chatted a little, I realised that he is not my childhood idol anymore, but a guy that has got old…and a little fat,” Šalinović, before recalling her encounter with Lady Gaga.
“I talked with Lady Gaga when we were at a review. She is extremely nice, but extremely short. I remember she had shoes with the highest heels I had even seen in my life, but she was still a lot shorter than me.”
The Split-born brunette, who began her career at the age of 19, is currently ranked 29th on the list of most sought after world models by fashion experts. Kristina says that blue eyes and nice teeth are the only ‘must’s’ a potential boyfriend must posses, and despite being a towering 181cm, she says that height is not a deal-breaker, and her man can even be 10 centimetres shorter that her.
